(Do you like the picture? These are some of the books that I purchased recently!)
Hey guys! I was meant to have this wee little blog post up yesterday, but I have been feeling a little unwell, had to finish and send in an important assessment for one of my university courses, and spent last night reading The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey and watching Babylon 5 whilst recovering. I went to work today, so I feel better, I’m just trying to get rid of this headache and the sniffles.
Anyway, on a much happier note, this is the very first time that I am participating in a tag — and if you haven’t already guessed: I am very excited. I have never seen this tag before, despite my constant perusing throughout the bookish blogosphere, but I am looking forward to answering these questions and seeing the responses from those that I have tagged.
I was tagged by the beautiful Beth at Reading Every Night. (If you haven’t already, check out her blog and follow, like, right now! Her posts are amazing!)
Would you rather only read trilogies or standalones?
Trilogies, all the way. It is incredibly unlikely that I will pick up a standalone book, especially over something in a series (I am actually struggling to remember the last standalone novel that I read…). I would much rather immerse myself in a world and a cast of characters that has the opportunity to expand and develop over a number books. But that doesn’t mean that I am against reading a standalone book, it just really needs to capture my attention.
Would you rather only read male or female authors?
Out of all the questions, this would have to be the hardest! I probably read a lot more novels by female authors, but I have read some incredible novels by male authors as well. By choosing one over the other, I would be missing out on some pretty amazing books. This is the only question that I refuse to answer… simply because it is so damn difficult to decide!
Would you rather shop at
Barnes and Noble (the bookstore) or Amazon (online)?
Whilst I would much rather shop at my local bookstore than online, sometimes the bookstore that I go to doesn’t have some of the series that I really want to read (or sometimes takes forever in receiving some new releases) — so I have become a little dependent on online shopping lately. But the question is where I would rather shop, and I would much rather shop at my local bookstore… if only they had everything that I wanted haha.
Would you rather books be made into television shows or movies?
Without a doubt, I much rather books be made into television shows. There have only been a few movie adaptions that I have really liked (such as The Hunger Games movies and the Harry Potter series), and I would love to watch my favourite book series come to life each week. At the moment I am absolutely loving the television adaption of Shadowhunters, which is definitely much better than the horrible movie adaption a couple of years ago. I’m a bit of a television junkie though, so I may be a little biased.
Would you rather only read five pages per day or five books per week?
The dream would definitely be to read five books per week (I would seriously love to know how people manage to do that, it seems almost impossible!). But right now, unfortunately, it honestly feels as though I only read five pages per day *cries*
Would you rather be a professional author or reviewer?
I have always wanted to become a professional author and see other people immerse themselves into the worlds that I have written. But, at the moment, writing has unfortunately taken a backseat due to my numerous university and work commitments, which has caused me to experience a huge case of writer’s block. So, whilst things are little hectic and my time to be creative is restrained, I will stick to blogging for a while. Hopefully, this case of writer’s block will pass.
Would you rather be a librarian or bookseller?
I honestly don’t think that I have the self-restraint to become a bookseller. Actually, I think that it would become an incredibly dangerous job… for my poor bank account, haha. At the end of the day, if I worked in a bookstore, I would probably just end up volunteering there, because all of my money would go back into the business. Oops. So, unless this bookselling gig includes a huge paycheque, it is probably much safer to become a librarian haha.
Would you rather read only your favourite genre, or every other genre but your favourite?
Definitely read only my favourite genre. Though, I would have a very difficult time attempting to pick whether fantasy or science fiction is my favourite…
Would you rather only read ebooks or physical copies?
This may be a very, very unpopular opinion, but I absolutely despise (I managed to restrain myself from writing ‘hate’) reading ebooks. I just cannot stand reading ebooks. I would much rather read the physical copy of a book. When I’m reading I love the feel of a book in my hands and smelling its wonderful smell. Whilst ebooks may be easier to carry and are less expensive, nothing beats having the actual book in your hands.
